Flattery at its worst!!!

Back in May2008, i posted a image of a Shoe illustration part of a competition i had entered. http://votemayhem.blogspot.com/2008/05/more-sneaker-stuff-mooks-art-comp.html

I was flattered when a company in the Netherlands, Farfromthesame, asked if they could use it for a line of clothes they had in mind. I said no, unless certain (fair) requirements where met.

Just found out they went ahead with it anyways...no credit to me...not a cent!!!

I just got bitten! Now what?! Angry email on its way.

Though it did come out pretty sweet, i might buy one from their online store. They gotem in men and women tees too.

The least they can do is give you a shirt for free. This is really a shame, because as this happens more and more, artists become hesitant in sharing their work online, as others steal it to make a profit, without due credit and compensation. How do artists deal with the growing issue of copyrights not meaning anything?

Here are a couple more examples of the same situation as you:

Demand some free shirts man.

That's rough dude. But you know what's worse? It's all out of context of what the image was all about.

And the colour scheme... c'mon.

thats is very lame dood. They really should get fined. Or you get all their cash they make on the shirts with the design. I hope you kept the email!

they rip you off and you might BUY one of the shirts? come on man, get some money out of them! that is totally unfair...

you should see if they'll put one of your empty milk cartons on their shirts. I'd buy that
