Hello bonjour!
I had the opportunity to take a trip out to Montreal and Toronto for a little art adventure! I hope to share some drawings i did over there on some later posts, and even photos in my photoblog link in the side bar.

Montreal smoke meat sandwhiches for the win (and heart attack).

I think in retrospect, this piece has been inspired by 2 of my favourite artists, SMAK and Grotesk, not to mention the amazing designs and emotions portrayed in the original book illustrations by Maurice Sendak.

As a story involving monsters in a childs fantasy, the original earthy colours have been juxtaposed with how i see a contemporary interpretation of how these WILD THINGS would be .

Can't wait for the movie!

So i forgot to login every 30 days to my host of where i upload my SWFs...and my account got wiped. Silly me. Will have to fix that.

On other news, i just wrapped up another animation contract on 'MARTHA SPEAKS season 2'. So hopefully i will have time to keep this blog updated, and i welcome this time off to play around with other mediums, and artistic expressions of interest. Maybe i'll finish a comic....

To be honest, I do what i do mostly as introspective pieces to help discover more about me. My personal work reflect subjective thoughts and emotions, sometimes conceptual, hopefully progressive; so really, at the end of the day if you hate what i do, it ain't no sweat to me.

ALTHOUGH, when you get shown mad love, it's super humbling. Thank you to sneaker blog BAY AREA KICKS for wanting to link me at their site! From what i can tell, these guys are on top of their game when it comes to keepin up to date with shoe biz!

Penticton Show: Mayhem x Krime

Penticton is the home town of partner in KRIME, so were fortunate to have some stuff put into the art gallery there as part of a collective show. These are inked illustrations that were photocopied and coloured with markers, then mounted on foam board.

The opening of the show was a great excuse for me to travel east into the interior Okanagan, so i hopped on a Greyhound (without armour neck support and chest plates) and did just that. Lots of mishief went down, perhaps i'll post some pictures in comming updates.

This was a series of 4 which were unvieled at the Studio B art show. The marvel series consists of Captain America, Wolverine, Thor and Hulk. This series however, was unique as i teamed up with buddy KRIME, who decided to push the concept further by adding his trademark beard tag on them.

Each image was printed on card stock, sans facial features and beards. The latter details were added on afterwards with markers and correction fluid. Of the four pieces, KRIME was the illustrator of the HULK piece, where in turn i bearded him up.

Possibly more collabs down the road.

San Francisco G.G.B. (because i'd tag just about anything).

I just came back from a 2 week trip travelling down to Portland and SF via train. It was slow and scenic. Quiet and conversational. I would type all about it, but i'm afraid there might be too many adjectives for this one post alone, so if you see me in person, just ask me about it. In short, my body is exhausted, but my mind is refreshed.

I'd like to imagine that instead of being paranoid about wearing glasses, you can wrap these on and let the symbiote frames give you the courage to serve justice where justice needs to be served. Yeah i read comic books, WITH glasses, and what...?

Pusher's are pussy's.

This is a flip of the new Punisher Movie poster.
I noticed that i could flip the title to make 'pusher' when i was copying the poster for illustration practice and thought i would run with the idea. So now the main character of this piece is some badass drug pusher, who sells you drugs, and takes your money and blood for trade, but under all that bullsh!t thug exterior, his preying on the weak make him a pussy (coz he likes the floral's).

Pang is the nylon girl. She rocks the glasses so you can't see that she's been crying. The reverse peace signs are her faux attitude. The key? To the future she is.

emcee FIREBIRD.

I'm not too sure what's happening with Joaquin Phoenix these days, but i'm intrigued.

So this image is made up with 2 main colours, red for the BG, and blue for the FG. Then i put a red overlay of paint texture over the top, which allows the blue from underneath to show through; resulting in the purplish which merges the layer as a whole, yet still keeps enough contrast.

You can find pictures of JP boasting his knuckles with the words 'BYE!/GOOD'. I chose to flip it so that the audience can understand the context of what's happening with him, and I've decided to use the word 'Ca$h' as a metaphor for a character he has portrayed and a generic theme often found in rap music. The image of a phoenix in the BG also clues in on who the subject matter is.

I find the costume designs for classic Japanese hero's, Kamen Riders so appealing. Leather jackets and gloves with flowing scarf, whilst fighting bad guys? Too coo' fo' skoo.

Flattery at its worst!!!

Back in May2008, i posted a image of a Shoe illustration part of a competition i had entered. http://votemayhem.blogspot.com/2008/05/more-sneaker-stuff-mooks-art-comp.html

I was flattered when a company in the Netherlands, Farfromthesame, asked if they could use it for a line of clothes they had in mind. I said no, unless certain (fair) requirements where met.

Just found out they went ahead with it anyways...no credit to me...not a cent!!!

I just got bitten! Now what?! Angry email on its way.

Though it did come out pretty sweet, i might buy one from their online store. They gotem in men and women tees too.
